Enjoy England, the England marketing division of VisitBritain, Britain's national tourism agency, has invested in partnership with Ireland West Airport Knock in a campaign to promote holiday breaks from Ireland West Airport Knock to England. The marketing campaign will incorporate regional radio and press advertising, national radio campaigns on RTE's 2 FM and Today FM as well as online marketing activity. The campaign targets consumers living in Ireland West Knock's catchment area of the West, North West and Midlands. It is hoped the campaign will build awareness of the tourist attractions, events, festivals and leisure activities in London, Manchester, Birmingham, East Midlands, Bristol and their surrounding areas while building a profile of England as an attractive holiday destination for families, couples, friends - something for everyone. Ireland West Airport Knock currently operates 48 low cost flights to England every week and the joint initiative is aimed at encouraging people to utilise the opportunity and convenience which these low cost short-hop flights from Ireland West Knock present to visit England. Annette Kearney, Marketing and Route Development Manager with Ireland West Airport Knock said: "By actively driving and supporting these joint marketing campaigns together with the tourism authorities as well as our airline partners, it helps us raise awareness with our customers of the opportunities which England presents as a holiday destination. We have a good geographical spread of routes, which we operate to England and hope to build on in the future. England is the No. 1 market of choice for our customers and in 2007 over 434,000 passengers flew to England from Ireland West Airport Knock with many travelling three or more times per year. Many passengers travel to England to visit family and friends but we hope that this campaign will raise awareness of the vast range of attractions and activities that await them in England and that people will try and explore new regions which they can access from Ireland West Airport Knock." |
