Liz Cassidy of Irish Time Design was crowned 'Outstanding Businesswoman of the Year' at the Network Galway Annual Women in Business Awards last Friday, 19 October at a Black Tie Gala Dinner in The Westwood Hotel. Her award was sponsored by Hession Life and Pensions Ltd.

The annual Women in Business awards were presented to women who have made an outstanding contribution to business life in Galway.

Denise Hogan of Denise Hogan Designs won the Communications and Arts category, sponsored by Galway Now. The Professional Services gong (sponsored by O & B Recruitment) went to Lorna Maguire of All 3D Architectural Visualisations, with Mary Mannion of MG Mannion & Co. Accountants winning the Financial Services Award, sponsored by Davy Stockbrokers. The Tourism and Retail category was sponsored by Carlton Shearwater Hotel and Spa and won by Karen Smyth of Aran Direct.

The event was hosted by author and former Fair City actress Claudia Carroll and was attended by the sponsors mentioned above, along with the Galway Independent (media partner), Ulster Bank, Jolie, Lohan's Bar & Restaurant, Computertroubleshooters and Ashling Communications.

Network Galway president Nuala Wakefield said the night was "a resounding success" and congratulated all the nominees. "The calibre this year was outstanding, which made the judges job difficult but it demonstrates what a diverse and talented membership Network Galway has."
