In common with other city business groups, The Marketing Institute of Ireland West Region will host a Volvo Ocean Race Information Evening in the Radisson SAS Hotel, Galway on Wednesday 2 April at 5.30pm. Entitled ‘Charting the Course for the Future’, the event will be addressed by guest speakers David Baddeley, MD Volvo Cars Ireland and Maria Moynihan Lee, Marketing, Events and Outreach Manager, Let's do it Galway. The evening is open to members and non-members of the MII who are interested in learning about the Volvo Ocean Race Stopover in Galway in May 2009 and Volvo's involvement with the prestigious race. Announcing the event, chairman of the Marketing Institute West Region, Patrick Brennan said MII were delighted to host this information evening to update members and non-members on the preparations for the Volvo Ocean Race stopover in Galway in May 2009. “The eyes of the world will be firmly fixed on Galway in May of next year when the world's most gruelling ocean adventure race visits the city. Expected to be worth over €43 million to the local economy, the stopover will offer many opportunities for local business. The Marketing Institute is very pleased to host this information evening which will be of interest to members and non-members.” Following presentations by the guest speakers there will be a facilitated workshop with Padraic O'Máille of O'Máille Group entitled ‘MII West - Charting Your Course’. Representing marketing professionals in counties Galway, Mayo and Roscommon, the MII West Region aims to develop business in the West of Ireland by raising its marketing capability and improving the skills of marketing people so they deliver exceptional business results for the companies that employ them. Promising to be a lively session, this workshop offers a forum for members to have their say on the future direction of MII West Region. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be available upon arrival. The event is free of charge but booking is essential.
