Aer Arann is celebrating the first anniversary of the popular Galway to Leeds route in what the company has described as a "success story". Aer Arann operates flights to Leeds from both Galway and Cork and over 25,000 passengers have availed of the service over the past year alone.

As a result, Aer Arann is increasing the frequency of flights to Leeds from Cork Airport. Daily flights will operate on the Cork to Leeds route for the winter up to five days per week.

Commenting on the announcement, Colin Lewis, Head of Sales and Marketing, Aer Arann said:

"Leeds Bradford continues to be a popular destination for the Irish, both for students or as a gateway to Yorkshire and beyond. Our 25,000 passengers who have availed of the Leeds Bradford services in the past year seem to agree!

"The Galway and Cork services, as two of the top Irish short-break destinations, have also proved to be huge success stories for Aer Arann at Leeds Bradford."

"We are extremely pleased to celebrate the first anniversary of Aer Arann's Galway service from Leeds Bradford Airport," commented Sam Wynzar, Communications Officer with Leeds Bradford Airport.

"The flights to Cork and Galway have proved to be a great enhancement to the services available from the airport and Aer Arann have shown strong commitment to reliability and customer service over the past 12 months, a pledge that our passengers really appreciate," she added.

Meanwhile, more London flights are in the pipeline this month from Galway due to increased customer demand.

Aer Arann is increasing flights from the company's Galway base to London Luton to three flights per day from 15 October.

The new service will leave Galway at 12.30pm, arriving in Luton at 2.15pm. The return flight will leave London Luton at 2.45pm and arrive in Galway at 4.35pm, and will operate six days a week.

"The increased frequency on this Galway popular service will make travel to London much more convenient, affordable and flexible for both business and leisure passengers. The route will now carry up to 5,000 extra passengers per month, which will provide a great boost to our Galway hub," said Mr Lewis.
