A number of organisations representing the interests of the vast majority of major businesses in the West of Ireland have banded together to gain government commitment to the completion of the new N18 Road connecting Galway with Shannon/Limerick and the Outer Bypass.

The American Chamber of Commerce Ireland - West Region, Galway Chamber, IBEC (western region), the Information Technology Association of Galway (ITAG), Ireland West Tourism and the Galway Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation have come together to ensure that the projects get the go ahead.

A spokesperson for the groups said, "Immediate and unequivocal commitment by government is now required to eliminate any uncertainties relating to these projects and the organisations listed are committed to working with local and national Government and with other west region based groups - including those with concerns about these projects - to ensure that the region will get maximum economic benefit from the opportunities created by these projects."
