GMIT is aiming to get 2010 off to a great start for graduates by holding a major careers seminar. The 'Becoming successful in challenging times' seminar is being held in the Dublin Road campus this Thursday in response to the "considerable number of graduates concerned about their future."

"We want these graduates to walk away with specific goals and a workbook listing the possibilities.

"We have the relevant contacts in industry who are working with us on this seminar. The day will consist of a number of workshops, including discussions on further study opportunities within GMIT and other third level colleges," GMIT Careers Officer Bridie Killoran said.

Speakers at the seminar include employers and motivational speakers including David Barrett, occupational psychologist and owner of Cut-e Group, and Paula Clarke, Motivational Consultant. A number of GMIT graduates will talk about their career paths and leading employers will speak about current opportunities and the best way to get noticed.

There will be a number of stands at the event, including West of Ireland Linked In, IBEC, Post Graduate Ireland, CV Clinics, Australia Migration, Harvest Resources, Local Job Creation Initiative and many more.

For further information on this one-day free seminar being held Thursday 7 January or to register your attendance, log on to http://www.gmit.ie/alumni/career-challenge-2010.html, contact GMIT Careers Officer Bridie Killoran at 091-742778 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
