The openings of Galway’s two new Dunnes Stores outlets are being presided over by none other than RTÉ stalwarts Marty Whelan, still fresh from his Oyster Pearl appearance, and fellow broadcaster Gay Byrne.

The new stores, in Briarhill and Knocknacarra, bring to six the number of Dunnes outlets in Galway, and a total of 450 new jobs. Marty Whelan officially opened the Briarhill outlet yesterday (Tuesday) at 10am, while Gay Byrne will be doing the honours for the Knocknacarra store at the same time next Tuesday, 25 September.

“We are delighted to be opening two new stores in Galway”, says John McNiffe, Director. “We have received a warm welcome and a lot of support from the people of Briarhill for the creation of 200 new jobs in the area and a further 250 in the Knocknacarra branch. Both stores will carry a large range of products across grocery, textiles and homewares.”

Both stores offer large customer parking and customers at the Briarhill store can relax and unwind in the stylish surroundings of Café Reflect where a full menu is also on offer.

The textiles floor has been designed in a fresh, contemporary style to enhance the customers shopping experience. The clothing ranges will include collections from Savida, New Haven and Centered and a full product range for bedroom, bathroom, living and kitchen will be available from the Dunnes Home Department.

Opening hours for the Briarhill Store are 8.30am to 10pm, Monday to Wednesday, 8.30am to midnight, Thursday and Friday, 8.30am to10pm, Saturday and 10am to 8pm on Sunday. Knocknacarra opening hours are 8am to 12pm Monday to Friday, Saturday 8am to10pm, and Sunday 8am to 10pm.
