Galway Hooker Beer has been named 'Best in Ireland' by the prestigious
Bridgestone Irish Food Guide, launched earlier in the month by Trevor
Sargent, Minister of State with responsibility for food. The book's author, well-known food writer John McKenna, said at the launch that 'Galway Hooker' was without doubt the best new beer discovered in his three years of research: Brewer Ronan Brennan said in response: "We are absolutely thrilled to receive this endorsement from probably the most respected food commentators in Ireland, as it justifies everything we've been trying to achieve in terms of producing a new and unique style of beer." This is the second award that the beer has won in recent months - it was also voted Best Beer at the annual Irish Beer Festival in Cork earlier this year. For a beer that was only launched last year, these awards are huge acclaim. 'Galway Hooker' is available in over a dozen pubs in Galway city, and in a handful of other outlets throughout the country. |
