Galway finalists in Quality and Excellence Awards E-mail

Twelve Galway-based organisations have reached the final round of the National Quality and Excellence Awards 2007. The awards are divided into 22 categories and the organisations will compete to be named winner in such areas as Hygiene (with separate categories for Restaurants, Catering and Hospitals) and Team of the Year.

The Galway finalists include Supermac’s outlets in Ballinasloe (Sarsfield Park and Main Street), Merlin Park, Athenry and Cross Street, as well as Musgrave Distribution Centre, Campbell Catering at Boston Scientific, SuperValu (Moycullen and Fr Griffin Road), HC Financial Services, East Galway Mental Health in Tuam and East Galway Mental Health, Dublin Road. The overall winners will be announced in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin, on Thursday, 11 October.

This year sees two additional categories being added to the Awards – The Rehab Group National Team of the Year, and the Rehab Group National Team Player of the Year Award, with the finalists selected from hundreds of entries. In addition, this year the EIQA (Excellence Ireland Quality Association) has the first ever Northern Ireland Retail Hygiene Award, which is helping to bring a unified quality and excellence on both sides of the border.
 

According to the organisers, the National Quality and Excellence Awards have grown in strength each year with the entry levels and high standards growing each year. The finalists in each category had to excel through the most rigorous of audit/assessment programmes designed to produce long-term understanding and commitment to quality in every aspect of their business.
 
Along with the three new categories, the EIQA has developed a 'Service – Profit' model that forms the backbone of their assessment methodology. In summary, this model proves the 'cause and effect' link between engaged employees who are enabled to do their job efficiently, thereby leading to a better customer experience, which in turn leads to the organisation achieving its desired results.

Speaking at the announcement, Mr Paul O'Grady, MD, EIQA said: “Successful business in Ireland and in the world markets today depends on talented people, with a personal and professional commitment to continuous improvement. The evident drive, commitment and achievement of all this year entries is clearly demonstrated by this national ceremony. They share a well-deserved pride in the results they have delivered in raising the profile in the Quality & Excellence in Ireland and their company commitment to continuous improvement. I am personally delighted to celebrate in their achievements.”
