Galway Chamber and Vodafone Ireland are calling on businesses in Galway to enter for a Vodafone Passion for the World Around Us Award. This scheme recognises and honours businesses that make an effort to improve their local community and have been successful in making a positive contribution to the world around them.

Small, medium and large indigenous and multinational companies that enrich the lives of their employees and embrace corporate responsibility to enhance their local community are all eligible for an award. Reasons to enter to include encouraging employee volunteering, engaging in local environmental activity or supporting local causes.

The Passion for the World Around Us Awards are run by Vodafone in partnership with Galway Chamber and 17 other Chambers nationwide. All business entries will be eligible for an overall National Award, which will be presented in Spring 2008.

An added incentive to enter these awards is a specially commissioned handmade award designed by Irish artist Michelle Hannan, along with a certificate.

Speaking about the business round of the 2007 Passion for the World Around Us Awards, Olivia Dobbs, Vodafone Ireland said: "We are committed to corporate responsibility in every area of our business and we believe that this is reflected in our Passion for the World Around Us Awards. We want to recognise the many businesses across the country that constantly demonstrate loyalty and commitment to their local community, highlighting their activities as examples to others."
