Galway Airport’s expansion over the past year has certainly earned it some frequent flier points, with a huge increase in passenger numbers recorded since last August.
Passenger numbers at Galway Airport have broken records with an increase of 44 per cent on last year. August 2006 saw a total of 36,754 passengers making use of the West’s most convenient airport. This also coincided with breaking the record for the highest monthly passengers on the Galway to London Luton route which broke the 9,000 level for the first time. The continued growth in passenger numbers at Galway Airport is a clear vote of confidence in the airport’s vital role as a gateway into and out of the Galway region for both business and leisure passengers.
He also said that the continued growth at Galway Airport has necessitated a wide range of development works to be initiated this summer including upgraded car parking facilities and a major re-vamp of the terminal building.
“Our aim at Galway airport is to continue on this growth path so we have exciting plans for further developments at the airport during 2008 and 2009” continued Mr Moloney. |
