The Institute of Accounting Technicians in Ireland (IATI) has announced its annual results and new course details for students in Galway. IATI is the leading accounting technician body in Ireland with over 10,000 members and students. It has seen new student numbers doubling over the last five years, with continued growth anticipated for its professional qualification. National results for 2008 have just been announced with two Galway students - Elaine Higgins from Tuam and Brian Cotter from Knocknacarra – graduating in the top 50 in Ireland. In Galway, IATI is currently enrolling new students in Galway Mayo Institute of Technology. Qualified accounting technicians are highly skilled accounting staff who can work in a wide variety of roles for many types of organisations. These include manufacturing companies, local and central government, the health service, financial institutions and private accountancy firms. Gay Sheehan, Chief Executive of IATI, said, "The Institute of Accounting Technicians has been in existence in Ireland for 25 years and has gained very strong links with the business community. In recent times, we have invested significant resources to upgrading our course content so that it is fully in tune with employers' requirements. Our flexible and practical course is currently experiencing significant growth in demand from people in Galway and throughout Ireland." |
