New Mayo-based company Energen, specialises in the area of energy conservation and the new Building Energy Ratings (BER). In less than six months Energen has made a huge impact as one of the country's leading training providers in the training of energy assessors.

To date company has trained successfully over 100 assessors to carry out energy assessments of new houses, enabling them to become registered assessors with Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI).

According to Neil Dawn, the company's Managing Director, "In many cases people come to our programmes very anxious and nervous about what they are embarking upon. Our job is to put them at ease and facilitate their learning, which is done through a relaxed and participative style of training."

The company has received positive feedback from both students and FETAC, and is about to launch an on-line version of the assessor programme.
