This year's Race Week saw the Galway Bay Hotel full to the brim with
familiar faces who come back year after year to enjoy the craic from
the seaside hotel. Any visitor was sure to bump into one or more of the
many famous personalities staying on the premises. Former international
soccer players, David O'Leary and Kevin Moran, RTÉ racing commentator
Des Scahill, Today FM's Paul Collins and 2FM DJ Nikki Hayes were all in
house for the festival week.
The hotel had a jam-packed line up of music and entertainment for the
festival in the Lettermore suite with big names like Mike Denver and
Jimmy Buckley. Once again the Galway Bay Hotel played host to the
annual Fianna Fail race party last Wednesday night, during which guests
danced the night away to the renowned Brendan Shine. Paul Collins from Today FM broadcast his sports section for the Today FM Breakfast show from Tuesday to Thursday. Paul, a regular visitor to the Galway Bay Hotel said he was "blown over by the hospitality, attention to detail, fine food and great craic to be had". An avid Tipperary hurling fan, he was particularly amused to find the Tipperary flag draped over his bed covers on arrival "to help him settle in to the new surroundings" said Dan Murphy the hotel's General Manager. The 2FM roadcaster was also broadcasting live from outside the hotel's conservatory, with DJ Nikki Hayes behind the turntables.
