The ARAMARK Ireland team at University Hospital Galway (UHG) has been presented with one of the hospitality industry's top awards at the 20th Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Awards. The team beat off stiff competition to win the Gold Medal Award for Institutional Catering sponsored by the National Hygiene Partnership. Organised by Hotel & Catering Review, Ireland's leading magazine for the hospitality industry, the Gold Medal Awards recognise and reward excellence within the hotel and catering industry. A total of 14 awards were presented to outstanding hotel and catering operations at a gala ceremony in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin recently. The Institutional Catering category is one of the most hard-fought categories in the Gold Medal Awards, reflecting the continued growth and development in the sector. ARAMARK Ireland triumphed ahead of its peers, beating two other finalists - Wheatfield Prison in Dublin and Skibbereen Residential Care in Cork - to win the coveted award. Speaking at the awards ceremony, Joan O'Shaughnessy, CEO, ARAMARK Ireland said, "The team at University College Hospital Galway consistently show great initiative and drive standards within their business and I am delighted that their commitment has been recognised by the Hotel & Catering Awards judges. I would like to congratulate them on their success and wish them the best for the future." Competition judges included Richard Bourke, former general manager of Jury's Hotel, Ballsbridge and past president of the Irish Hotels Federation, and Sarah Grennan, editor of Hotel & Catering Review and chair of the Gold Medal Awards Jury. |
