Name: Results Personal Training Studio ![]() Sports and fitness has always been something that David was interested in. Growing up, he was heavily involved in rugby and weight lifting, which he says kept him "sane in school". While preparing for his Leaving Certificate, David began to think about what he was going to do with his life. He decided to try to turn his hobby into a career. After training at the University of Limerick and working in a number of gyms around Galway, David saw a need for targeted, results-driven personal training and decided to take a chance and set up his own studio. Results Personal Training Studio has been up and running in Liosban for the last four months and he is delighted with the success of the company so far. "There has been huge demand from day one. We are the first company open in the morning in that estate and the last to close at night. We have seen everyone from elite athletes to housewives coming in and they are delighted with the results they are getting." So what makes this studio different from the many others that have opened over the last number of years? According to David, the studio set-up in Liosbán is one of a kind, with four private workout rooms all equipped with the latest in cutting-edge equipment from across Europe. Four trainers, including David himself, work from the 1,800 square foot studio and the focus is on providing a comprehensive lifestyle change for clients that achieves results. "The main advantage of personal training is the one-to-one aspect. You develop a relationship with your client and tailor their workout specifically to their needs so that they get the most out of their hard work. What works for one person will not work for another. We give advice on workouts, guide them through different exercises and motivate them, as well as giving nutrition and diet advice. "Rather then doing a class with ten other people or going through the motions at the gym, where you are only giving a half-assed effort some of the time, we are there to make sure that clients get the optimum results from their workout without getting bored. Every single thing you do in a workout with us will achieve results and, after a while, people look forward to coming in. It's addictive," he says. As well as the obvious physical benefits, taking time out to exercise also has a huge effect on mental health, David points out. "I have a number of successful businessmen and company directors who come into me and they really look forward to it as it gives them an hour to just turn the mobile off and work out all their stress. It gets them away from work to have some time for themselves and they go back with higher energy levels and better productivity." David says that diet is vitally important when it comes to staying fit and healthy and believes that many people are still eating badly despite their best efforts, due to misinformation in magazines and online. "Magazines, gyms, celeb fad diets… people have been filled up with all this information that is completely wrong. They eat a scone thinking that it is good for them when it is one of the worst things you could eat. When someone comes into us, we get them to log everything they eat for a week and then sit down with them and break it down, showing them what they are doing wrong and how to fix it. Diet is so important. If I had someone on the highest frequency on a treadmill and was sitting in front of them eating a slice of pizza, I'd be putting on more calories than they would be burning." Further to this, Results Personal Training Studio also features a supplement shop, ran by the internationally recognised AM Nutrition, which offers a range of dietary supplements that can be used in conjunction with the training schedule. While personal training has been seen in the past as a reserve of the rich and famous, David says it is becoming more and more common in Ireland and is more affordable than people think. "People think that only certain types of people go to a personal trainer but that isn't true anymore. I have regular people from the ages of 18 to 60 coming in to me, from bodybuilders to people with hip problems. Anyone can do it; you have to start somewhere. It's not as unaffordable as people think either. You can save €50/€60 a month from not going to the gym, a lot of money on eating out by following a healthy diet and hundreds of euros by cutting down on alcohol. It is achievable and the results definitely make it worthwhile."
