Page 2 of 2 "One of our speciality dishes is Carpet Bag Steak. This is a ten oz steak stuffed with oysters. We want to give our customers a taste of the traditional combined with a taste of the different," Cian adds. At the back of the lobby, an ornate staircase leads to the ballroom, which is very popular for corporate events and weddings. The ballroom is filled with a history you can sense - kings and queens have danced here. It really is a very special room, with antique crystal chandeliers draped from the ceiling and a mezzanine overlooking the entire room. "The new look ground floor adds a touch of glamour to any wedding and there are so many photo opportunities both on and off the square. We have a great wedding package that is as with everything else at the hotel competitively priced." The Square Spa and Health club is a hidden haven on the fifth floor of the hotel. With a fully equipped gym, roof top outdoor Canadian hot tub, Jacuzzi and a wonderful array of spa treatments, there is something on offer for everyone. And the hotel's latest addition, the late night lounge Tosh, which took over from O'Flaherty's Bar earlier this year, is a new concept venue to Galway. With its sleek lines, custom lighting and relaxed lounge areas this is the ideal location for after work drinks, private functions or simply a night out. The lounge has just launched a new tapas menu, which is being well received by customers. Tapas offer something different from regular bar food. "They are light, yet substantial, so you can enjoy the rest of your night comfortably. The tapas, combined with our extensive wine menu, provides people with another choice in dining in the city," says Cian. Race Week will the hotel's first chance to showcase the new look hotel. And, as with the hotel, there will be no half measures. "We will have three floors of non-stop entertainment and fabulousness. On the Thursday evening we will be holding a 'Best Dressed Lady' competition and our guest judge will be Horse Racing Ireland's Fashion Ambassador Kathryn Thomas," says Cian. The first prize will be a ladies Rolex watch worth ?3,000 and the runner up prizes are Tote Ireland accounts. A calendar of events is available to download on the hotel's website. Hotel Meyrick is bringing history forward in Galway and looks forward to welcoming the people of Galway to the hotel. For further information, phone 091-564041 or log onto www.hotelmeyrick.com |
