1/2 Price Ink on Dominick Street is a one-stop shop for all your printing, laminating and 1/2 price ink needs. A company set up by Oranmore natives, brothers Derek and Alan Naughton, 1/2 Price Ink commenced trading at the beginning of February this year. 1/2 Price Ink is part of a wholly owned Irish company that specialises in refilling and recycling ink and laser cartridges in an environmentally friendly manner at a remarkably low cost.

1/2 Price Ink is ideally located in an up-and-coming business area in Galway city's Dominick Street. The shop is in close proximity to the university, both secondary and primary schools, the GTI and many offices.

"We decided on Dominick Street because of its ideal location within the city. There is so much going on down in the West area of the city. It is unbelievable how much foot traffic passes on the street, which allows for a lot of call-in and drop off business," says Derek.

Both brothers have strong engineering backgrounds. NUIG graduate Derek, formerly a quality engineer in the medical device industry, and UL graduate Alan, an aeronautical engineer working for many years in the aircraft industry, had been working away respectively but both had always wanted to open their own business.

"Well it was Derek essentially that brought this business together. As we both have engineering backgrounds, we were confident in opening 1/2 Price Ink. After I came on board, we saw that there was a need in the Galway market for a top quality ink and printing service and product," remarks Alan.

"By bringing your old ink cartridge to be recycled at 1/2 Price Ink, not only will you save up to 60 per cent of the original manufacturers price and retain the same 100 per cent quality guaranteed, you will also be cutting down on needless waste as thousands of used cartridges are poured into landfill sites around Ireland every week, each of them taking as long as 400 years to decompose," Alan adds.

Printing has become one of the main focuses of 1/2 Price Ink. However, a wide range of printing needs is catered to at 1/2 Price Ink, with all types of ink and laser cartridges accommodated. With such an extensive network of contacts across Ireland and abroad, Derek and Alan can order any cartridge and have it available for the customer within 24 hours. "We use ink that is ISO9000 approved. This ink is approved by the quality international standard and is one of the best ink products around," adds quality engineer Derek.

1/2 Price Ink provides many services under its roof including photocopying, laminating, faxing, binding, printing and mobile phone top ups. They also have some great promotions.

"We are offering our customers the opportunity to earn gifts for spending with Half Price Ink. When you spend €100 you can choose from a one GB memory stick or a Targus wireless mouse. When you spend €500 you can choose from a wireless keyboard and optical mouse or a MM32 portable speakers for an iPod and when you spend €1,000 you can choose from a wireless calculator keyboard, a Zen plus twoGB or a HP photo smart inkjet printer," Alan says.

The 1/2 Price Ink printing service provides the design and printing of business cards, compliments slips, letterheads, flyers, brochures and posters. All of these services are offered at very competitive prices.

1/2 Price Ink customers are being offered a free ink cartridge when you refill five cartridges. The new store also offers student discounts on products and services.
