Leading Galway Department Store, Anthony Ryan's, will continue their sponsorship of the Best Dressed Lady competition on Ladies Day, Thursday 2 August, at this year's Galway Races.

Ryan's has carved a reputation for quality service and an amazing array of fashion collections such as Toypes, Penny Black, Gina Bacconi, Dranella, and Rouge.

Ladies Day at the Galway Races has become the highlight of the social calendar for fashionistas all over Ireland, and this year's winner will receive the fantastic prize of a ?4,000 shopping spree in Ryan's, as well as a trophy by sculptor Donnacha Cahill which was specially commissioned for the occasion. There will also be a runner-up prize and a Best Hat prize, sponsored by the Ardilaun Hotel. All finalists will also receive a collection of Versace cosmetics from the University Pharmacy.

Style stakes at Ladies Day are traditionally high, outfits of elegance, panache, flair and creativity are matched with the adrenalin and excitement of the racing itself. Flamboyant headpieces and magnificent accessories mean that whatever happens on the course, fashion takes centre stage off it.

No entry is required for the competition, as judges Celia Holman-Lee, Bairbre Power (Editor, Irish Independent weekend magazine), Lorraine Keane (TV3), Patricia McCrossan (Managing Director, Galway Now) and PJ Gibbons (Editor, Social and Personal) will be mingling with the crowd in order to find fashionistas good enough to make the finalists.

Winning outfits will be announced just after the main race, at 4pm. The prize giving ceremony will take place in the parade ring immediately after the 5th race.
