A new website for home buyers has been launched by the Construction Industry Federation (CIF). www.homefacts.ie is a new guide for prospective house-buyers in Galway and throughout the country. Written by the Irish Home Builders Association (IHBA), a constituent association of the CIF, the site is intended to guide people through the home buying process step-by-step. According to the CIF, the online guide gives answers to questions such as 'Can I afford to buy a house?' 'What is mortgage interest relief and stamp duty?' and 'How do I rent a room?' It also outlines the responsibility of developers, and home buyers' entitlements. Speaking at the launch of the new website, Hubert Fitzpatrick, director of the IHBA, said, "www.homefacts.ie is a new source of information for people wanting to get on the property ladder, but who are confused about the process of buying a home. On www.homefacts.ie, home buyers can get a simple guide, which takes them through the entire process, and answers all of their questions. They will also get up to date housing facts and figures, which will help them deal with the banks, developers, estate agents and solicitors." At the launch of www.homefacts.ie, the IHBA also introduced a new Code of Practice for its members to govern the establishment and operation of management companies. The CIF launched its annual housing report, which indicates that the downward trend in housing output is set to continue and is predicted to fall to 37,000 in 2009, the lowest level of residential construction since 1996. |
