On Saturday 17 November 2007, Aer Arann got Christmas off to a flying start for a group of children from University Hospital in Galway when it flew them to a special Santa's grotto in Dublin. 25 children between the ages of three and ten departed from Galway Airport at 8.30am and arrived in Dublin Airport at 9.15am.

The children were then transported to Santa's grotto in Aer Arann's new headquarters in Santry where they were met by Santa Claus. There they enjoyed a morning filled with fun and entertainment. For the 25 sick children, the excitement of the plane journey was only matched by the thrill of meeting Santa with his sack of presents for each child. The kids were entertained with balloon sculptures, face painting and Christmas carols before returning to Galway Airport at 1pm.

Commenting on the event, Colin Lewis, Head of Sales and Marketing, Aer Arann said: ''We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring some Christmas magic to the children from University College Hospital Galway. This is the fifth year Aer Arann have arranged this event and we hope it will continue for years to come. We have a long association in fundraising for various children's hospital and it means a great deal to us to get involved in events like this, which bring so much happiness and excitement into the lives of children. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Galway Airport, Dublin Airport, World of Wonder Toys Galway, the Crowne Plaza in Santry, and Eurospar in Santry, all of whom contributed to this trip."
