The relationship between Connacht's only air carrier and Connacht's biggest rugby team is set to continue, with the announcement that Aer Arann is to continue sponsoring the Connacht rugby team. This is the second major sports sponsorship deal in the West for Aer Arann who also sponsor Galway United. According to Connacht Rugby CEO Gerry Kelly, the team is delighted with the deal. Making the announcement last week, he said "The relationship we have with all our sponsors is very important to us. The intention is to help one another build our brands ie Aer Arann and Connacht Rugby". Colin Lewis, head of sales and marketing at Aer Arann said, "We are delighted to be coming on board again this season as official sponsor of Connacht Rugby. Last year's association with the side proved really successful for us and has definitely contributed to increased traffic from our Galway hub. This year, we also have added a new route from Galway to Newcastle, home to the Newcastle Falcons who feature on the 2006-07 fixtures list." |
