Galway-based firm, Purdy Legal Solicitors, will hold an employment law seminar based on issues affecting the construction industry.

The seminar will concentrate on recent developments in the law which are of interest to the construction industry, including redundancies legislation, non-national employees in the construction workplace, and an update of the Construction Registered Employment Agreement.

Alastair Purdy, Principal of Purdy Legal Solicitors, has extensive experience in both HR and employment law, as he worked for fifteen years in IBEC and in the private sector at a senior management level prior to setting up his own solicitor's practice. He had come to recognise a niche in the marketplace in the West to service the legal needs of employers, specifically in the employment law area from a practical, 'hands-on' viewpoint.

In addition to this, Mr Purdy is the author of numerous articles on employment law and has recently published a textbook advising employers on the practical aspects of the termination of employment. An updated version is in the pipeline for publication in 2008.

"Uniquely in Ireland the practice can bring practical solutions to employers by virtue of the fact that I have had experience of both giving advice and having had to rely on advice for numerous years when working in HR. It is this blend of experience that I believe sets Purdy Legal apart from other solicitors and/or HR professionals operating in this area," he said.
