Music for Galway’s first Lunchtime Series at Hotel Meyrick comes to an end tomorrow, Thursday 21 April, at 1.05pm with a performance by the acclaimed Athens Guitar Duo.
Aiming to present music in a slightly more informal setting and offering audiences that might not be able to attend evening concerts a daytime option, the series has proven a great success. The initiative was made possible through sponsorship from SAP Ireland.
Matthew Anderson and Dusty Woodruff form the internationally celebrated Athens Guitar Duo, who have been consistently entertaining audiences for the past eight years, offering them exquisitely crafted performances, each presented with a delicacy and creativity only to be found among the finest of chamber ensembles. They have opened up the world of the guitar to new audiences and have promoted the works of both modern and traditional composers with a youthfulness and freshness that makes the music of those composers come alive. This is their first visit to Galway and their programme includes works by Piazzolla, Lieberman and Nordgren.
Tickets are €5 and booking is advised (call 091-705962 or email firstname.lastname@example.org). If you have a little more time, why not book the combo (€12), which includes the concert plus the soup and sandwich deal at the Gas Light Restaurant of Hotel Meyrick. Booking for the combo is essential.
Music for Galway gratefully acknowledges the support of the Arts Council, SAP and Hotel Meyrick.
