A new art exhibition, ‘Emergence’, will be launched this August Bank Holiday weekend in Kinvara Market Square. The exhibition will feature the work of ten local emerging artists, all either recent graduates or current students of the BA in Art and Design course in GMIT.
The idea to hold an exhibition came from Pam Fleming, who graduated from the course this year.
“Kinvara has such a vibrant artistic community,” said Pam. “During the six years I studied at GMIT, I was often struck by how many artists from the Kinvara area passed through this degree course. I thought it would be exciting to get together and showcase some of our work.”
The ten artists taking part in the exhibition are Marian Coady, Mary Donoghue, Pam Fleming, Kerry Maclure, Julia O’Keefe, Mary Roberts, Fiona Rooney, Rosaleen Tanham, Patricia Timmons and Brian Twomey. The exploration of local landscape, sea and people is a connecting thread running through the work of these painters.
‘Emergence’ opened in a pop-up gallery at Kinvara Market Square, formerly DIY Pursuits on Friday and will continue until Sunday, 11 August.
The exhibition will be open daily from 11am to 7pm. For further information, contact Pam Fleming at 087-2803303 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or Patricia Timmons at 087-6972226 or email@example.com. A percentage from the sale of each painting will be donated to the RNLI, who are held their annual Lifeboat Day in Kinvara on Sunday, 4 August.
