Galway City Gardaí are investigating three burglaries over two days last week.
A house on Maunsell’s Road, Taylor’s Hill, was broken into between 11am and 12noon last Thursday, 14 April. Entry was gained by forcing a rear window with what appeared to be a large screwdriver.
The house was ransacked, and a large safe taken. The safe contained a large amount of jewellery consisting of rings, necklaces, and mostly white gold earrings with pearls and diamonds. Documents were also stolen in the break-in.
The safe was later recovered adjacent to the Curragh Racecourse near Kildare.
An apartment on St. Patrick’s Avenue, Eyre Square, was also broken into between 3pm on Thursday 14 April and 8am on Friday 15 April. The premises was unoccupied at the time of the incident, and entry was gained via an unsecured rear door. A Dell laptop was stolen in the burglary.
Finally, on the night of Friday 15 April, an apartment on Burke’s Lane, Dominick Street was broken into and a laptop and a rucksack stolen. Entry was gained through the front door of the apartment, which was left unlocked.
