Aldi has appealed to An Bord Pleanala the planning decision that denied them building a new store on the Monivea Road in Doughiska.
At the end of May this year, Galway City Council received an application for planning permission from Aldi Stores (Ireland Ltd). The company sought permission to build a single storey retail foodstore (floor are 1,538 sqm) at Rinnlia on the Monivea Road in Doughiska.
As well as the building, the development would feature 187 parking spaces.
However planning permission was refused in July. Among the objectors to the development were the Retail, Grocery, Dairy and Allied Trades’ Association as well as the Residents of the Rin Lia housing estate.
