Galway forward Paul Conroy was also counting his blessings after Waterford pushed them to the edge on Saturday last.
“I suppose relief is one of the words. We were up against it for a long time in the second-half. We were three points down for a long time but thankfully we came through in the end. Fair play to the lads, they dug deep and thankfully we came through.”
And Conroy called for more ruthlessness in front of goal from Galway: “We are not taking our chances. We had two good goal chances in the first-half and we didn’t take them and when you leave teams in games it is going to be tight and they rallied in the second-half and we were lucky to come out on top.
“We are going to have to work on tackling and intensity. We missed a lot of tackles and they got scores out of them. We have a lot to work on, we need to make sure we are not fouling, but thankfully we are in the draw for the next round,” he said.
