Club night 110th Street celebrates its 18th birthday this weekend. The party takes place in the Blue Note Bar on Saturday 26 November at 9pm and it’s free in.
The birthday celebrations will be in the capable hands of resident DJs Cyril Briscoe and Cian Ó Cíobháin.
One thing you certainly can’t accuse them of these past couple of years at 110th Street is overkill. From their humble beginnings as a monthly party in the Town Hall in 1998, evolving to a fortnightly residency, then to a weekly party, before slowly reversing that route, they’ve now reached the stage where 110th Street has become an occasional event.
‘An rud is annamh is iontach’, which loosely translates as ‘what seldom happens is wonderful’. Which is why they hope that their first outing in a year, on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of their very first party, will make the cut.
On the night you can expect some of the tunes that defined different eras of the club-night, but also bringing future sounds that continue to excite.
